Wendy Bates School of Dancing

Ballet

We follow the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) syllabus, designed to develop the skills and techniques of Classical Ballet.

Our Ballet classes begin with Nursery for children aged 3 - 4 years, and continue through to adults. From 4 years our students can begin taking exams to advance through the NATD syllabus. The syllabus begins with Class and Preliminary levels, followed by grades 1-8, all the way up to Advanced 2. We also offer performance awards in the form of Medal Tests for all ages. Pointe work is included from Grade 6 standard and above for students who are assessed to be suitable candidates and have appropriate experience and training.

Examinations offer a great opportunity for students to achieve qualifications and awards whilst advancing their skills in Ballet.

Children with special needs are encouraged to participate in our classes and examinations.

We offer Adult Ballet classes on a Tuesday evening, these classes are both fun and informal whilst still learning the graceful techniques of Classical Ballet. Examinations are available for adult students if they wish to partake in them. Suitable for all abilities. Ages 18+.

Pirouette and Pointe

Grade 6 Ballet upward

This class is in addition to regular Ballet classes and provides the opportunity for dancers to build strength in their feet and ankles needed for both preparation for pointe work and further pointe study. Focus in lessons will also be on understanding the technique needed for successful pirouettes whilst developing core strength. Suitable for students Grade 6 and upwards.
